December is a special month in many countries because this is the time when every fourth person on Earth celebrates Christmas. Lately, I noticed there appeared a tradition of Christmas Advents.
According to Wikipedia, "Advent is a Christian season of preparation for the Nativity of Christ at Christmas". During this time many people study the Bible, do different activities, and open gifts to prepare their hearts for Christmas.
Together with my husband, we decided to organize an Advent for our youth. We called it the "December Challenge", created a calendar with 25 daily challenges (one for each day from December 1st to Christmas Day), and passed it out to our youth.
The rules are simple: every participant can only do one challenge a day - the one assigned for that day (they are not allowed to do them ahead or after). Every challenge is voluntary, and we also don't check on the participants daily. After Christmas we will collect the results and see who completed more - that person will be called the winner and will receive a nice prize. If there is a tie, we will hold a final challenge/competition that will define the winner.
To download an English and a Russian version of the Challenge in PDF and PNG formats click the link below. Did I tell you it's completely free?
Notice, that this December challenge was created specifically for our youth considering our church service schedule. If you want to use this calendar but you need to make some changes (such as moving a challenge to a different date or substituting it with a different activity), feel free to contact me and I will gladly help you with it. Keep in mind that you can also change the rules to fit you and your participants.
God bless you, friends, and may your hearts be prepared for the celebration of Christmas!
